Willie Mae Cowser

March 15, 1931 –

March 26, 2014

Willie Mae Cowser, 83, was born on March 15, 1931 in Brenham, Texas, the only daughter of Otto Drews and Matilda (nee: Schulze) and her step-mother was Rosa Witt. She was born again into the family of our Lord through the waters of Holy Baptism as an infant (Titus 3 5-7) at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. On the night of March 26, 2014 our Lord called Mae to eternal life. She closed her eyes for the last time on earth and opened them to the sight of her Lord sitting on His Majestic Throne in heaven. Willie Mae grew up in Washington County and graduated from Brenham High School in 1948. She met her first husband R.P. Fussell at Blinn College in Brenham and their union was blessed with two boys, Greg and Howard Fussell. She met A.D. Cowser while the two of them were working at Plastics Manufacturing Co. of Dallas and married him on May 24, 1994. In recent years, Willie Mae’s health had declined while suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's. Her faithful husband, A.D., remained by her side not only in word but action, by making sure she was cared for during her declining state (“in sickness and health… until death do us part”). Willie Mae enjoyed music, pets, reading and especially her faith and church life at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cockrell Hill and Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in DeSoto.

Willie Mae was preceded in death by her mother and father and first husband, R.P. Fussell.

She is survived by her husband, A.D. Cowser, sons, Greg and Lila Fussell and their daughter, Amber Knorr and her husband, Brian and Howard and Debbie Fussell and their sons, Cameron and Dylan and daughter, Emily. The family invites memorial gifts be made in Willie Mae’s name to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Willie Mae Cowser Memorial, 512 N. Cockrell Hill Rd., DeSoto, TX 75115.

A visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 and services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Midlothian Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in DeSoto.
