Our Midlothian Panther track team traveled to Lancaster Friday to compete in a very strong field of competitors.
The boys finished ninth out of 24 teams. The Midlothian varsity medalists were Keishi Mii, and Kyle Flaherty, who all took home the bronze.
Sophomore, Keion Sutton placed fifth in the long jump and Cody Tittle placed fifth in the pole vault. Sutton broke the 200 meter dash school record at Duncanville last week breaking Leeland Wallace's , (21.74) in 1986. Keion now holds the new record for the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.73.
Before the Lancaster meet, the varsity boys traveled to Mansfield Legacy to compete in the Bronco Relays.
There was some strong and fierce competition. Sixth place finishers were Cooper Harris in the Triple Jump, Will Capell in the 110 hurdles, Colbey Steadham in the 400 meter dash. The distance Medley made up of Colbey Steadham, Josiah Holland, Keishi Mii and Bailey Rhodes also finished in 6th.
Kyle Flaherty finished fourth in the pole vault. Bailey Rhodes finished second in the 800 meter run while setting a new school record. His time of 1:58.42 broke the 29-year old school record set in 1985.
On the JV team, Roger Ward took home a gold medal in the 3200 and a silver in the 1600 meter run in the Lancaster meet. Cole Garrison took a silver in the pole vault and Ryan Banister placed fifth in the same event.
Before going to Lancaster, the JV boys went to the Legacy Bronco Relays and came away with fifth place.
There were some very competitive races Saturday. The sprint Relay came away with a gold Medal. The team was composed of Cedric Whitaker, LaDarius Hicks, Najee Mustafaa and Marquise Edwards. Marquise also took home the gold in the long jump.
Silver medal winners were Tyler Coody in the 400 Meter dash and Marquise in the 100 Meter dash. Other member that made point contributions to the teams good showing was Sonny Kemp in the Shot put, Justin Bannick in the pole vault and Frank Solis, Najee Mustafaa, LaDarius Hicks, Michael Meeks and Jeff Wilson.
There were many of the team members that had their best times of the year. They whole team competed very well.
