The Walnut Grove and Frank Seale girls teams squared off last week in four close games.

The seventh-grade girls B teams played the tightest game as WGMS got a 23-21 victory.

The score was 17-19 FSMS going into the fourth quarter. Fielding and Dunn scored early in the fourth to make the score 21-21.

With 40 seconds left, Grayce Davis stole the ball at half court, took a shot, it fell short, but Cora got the rebound, took the shot and made it. The crowd exploded and the clock was down to 10 seconds.

FSMS took a time out and the Lady Cats knew they had to play excellent defense to not foul and allow the Cubs to get to the free throw line. The Lady Cats had the Cubs throw the ball all the away down the court and a WGMS player knocked it out of bounds.

The clock was at five seconds with the ball on Frank Seale's end. They threw it in to their point guard and Cora Brooks stepped up and tied the ball up to make the clock run out.

Grayce Davis led the defense with eight steals and six rebounds. Hackney also had five steals.

Cora Brooks led the offense with eight points, followed by Davis with five, Lenzer with four, Fielding with three, Dunn with two and Hackney with one.

The eighth-grade girls A team of WGMS defeated their cross-town rival Frank Seale 42-23.

Leading the way at the scorer's table with 12 points was Emma Arnold, others to put points on the board were Rayshauna Beason with eight, Brittiney Gardner and Riley Stover both with six, Heidi Allen with four and Erin Frey, Jordan Freas, Emma Beard all with two.

The eighth-grade B team Lady Cats played hard last night against Frank Seale in a very close game, but lost 31-29.

The Lady Cats trailed most of the game, but in the final 30 seconds, Tori Needles hit a three-pointer to tie it up. Frank Seale put in some free throws at the very end to pull ahead.

Julia Valdez was the top scorer with eight, Taylor Frey with seven, Lacey Dagley with five, Tori Needles with three and Rachel Gray, Rylie Waggoner, Katie Greer and Laney Rangel with two and Shelby Garcia with one.

The seventh-grade girls A WGMS team played a great game last night and came away victorious over Frank Seale 37-24.

The girls had a slow start in first quarter, but got fired up the rest of the game and never looked back.

The leading scorers were Kayla Aston with 13, Julia Goerig with seven, Kaitlyn Lewis and Jasmine Bailey with six, Rachel Sims and Kaylee Robinson with two and Saige Klor with one.
