William Curtis Ray, Jr. of Midlothian, TX passed away at the age of 93 on December 11, 2016. Curtis was born in Dallas, TX on November 22, 1923 to William Curtis, Sr. and Pauline Thomas Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy Darwin Ray. He served his country during World War II as a welder/underwater welder on the USS Tennessee Battleship from January 1943 until November 1945. During his active working years, various companies employed Curtis as an expert machinist, technician and welder. In 1967 he began his own welding company, Rays Welding Shop, Inc., and helped make it a successful business until his retirement in 1986. Being “retired” gave Curtis more time to continue his legacy of farming and tending his herds of cows on the Circle R Ranch. He has left us many memories and will forever be in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Vera Faye Marsh Ray, sons, Richard Curtis Ray and wife, Pam and Darwin Wayne Ray and wife Jeanne, grandchildren, Dale Ray, Darrin Ray and wife, Mary, Chad Ray, Jenanne Hill and husband, Chuck, great-grandchildren, Ashley, Thomas and A. J. Ray, Chad, Zachary and Christopher Hill, Savannah Morgan, Dustin Witcher, nephew, Duane Ray and wife Stephanie, their children, Jevonne, Sean, Ken, Kristine and many other nieces, nephews and friends
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 with l services following at 3:00 p.m. at Midlothian Funeral Home.
