MIDLOTHIAN — A single-engine aircraft wound up nose first in the runway Wednesday afternoon at Mid-Way Regional Airport in Midlothian.
According to preliminary information provided by Lynn Lunsford, Mid-States Public Affairs manager for the FAA, the Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 “nosed over after landing.” Lunsford noted that neither of the two people aboard the plane — also referred to as a Great Lakes Sport Trainer — were injured.
Mid-Way Regional Airport Manager Judy Demoney said, “There was no crash and no injuries. It was just a minor mishap. She noted the runway was closed for approximately 30 minutes.
"It was just long enough to get the airplane, cause once that happens, you have to remove it carefully, so it was just half an hour at the most," Demoney said.
The FAA was investigating the accident as of press time.
