Thomas Arden (Cotton) Powers, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on January 30, 2017. He was born on February 5, 1927, in Duncan, Oklahoma to the late Tommy and Vennie Powers. He loved Texas ranches and the hill country. Cotton served as a Merchant Marine in WW II for his country. He worked for Tony Sanders Real Estate, his business partner, and buddy, in Midlothian for over 30 years. He moved to Midlothian in 1994 on land he helped develop in Jordan Estates, Mt. Peak, a place he dearly loved. Cotton loved selling ranches and land. He could cook anything, beef, pork, chicken, and fish, whatever he could find, he could make a gourmet meal out of it. He could cook for a couple, dozen, hundreds and even a thousand, with some help from friends. Smoked meat was his specialty, especially his ribs. He loved cooking with his friends, Tony and Don and made hundreds of friends along the way, waiting for the meat to reach perfection. Cotton is survived by his children, Larry Powers (deceased), Cary Powers, Faun Franklin and Rachelle Powers, grandchildren, Blake Powers, Garen Powers and Fallon Franklin, great-grandchildren, Milo and Jovie Campbell, siblings, Doris Casey Nash, Wayne Powers (deceased) and Laverne Keist, wives, Dartha Roberts and Wanda Yeatherman and his best buds, Tony Sanders, Don Harding, Ralph and Barbara Sanford and many others. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2017, and services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Midlothian Funeral Home.
