MIDLOTHIAN — Celebrating the achievements of those serving the Midlothian community, the Chamber of Commerce held its annual Awards Luncheon last Wednesday, Feb. 8. The event honored those Chamber members that have demonstrated a commitment to business excellence and community effort.

“We had a great crowd, probably the biggest crowd we had for that luncheon, and I think everything was wonderful,” stated Cammy Jackson, President of Midlothian’s Chamber of Commerce, about the outcome of the event.

Filling every table in the ballroom of Midlothian’s Conference Center on 1st Community Drive, an overwhelming sense of support was well received from those present at the event.

“I think we had about 135 people in attendance. It was a very well attended luncheon. […] I was excited because I love to see that room full. It was very nice,” Jackson added.

As lunch was served and the ceremony began, awards were given to those who showed outstanding work within their business and the community.

“I thought it was wonderful. We had a few people who were totally surprised that they were getting an award, and I love that. That is my favorite thing to see — somebody’s reaction when they don’t even realize they were up for an award. That was really cool,” Jackson expressed. “Everyone who received an award was very deserving, like the 'Chamber Achievement Awards' that went to My Father’s Shop, he does so much for the small businesses just by doing the Facebook Live videos with them. And then Tarleton State for the Gene Rogers Community Service Award, if you’ve noticed – they’re everywhere. And they’re very supportive of the community, and that makes a big difference too."

Throughout the ceremony, handclaps and cheers went about the room, congratulating those who won. And as the event wrapped up, members were able to greet each other and connect with one another, further uniting the community of Midlothian on the small business front.

“And that’s really what the Chamber is all about, promoting each other and networking with each other, and helping each other be successful - that’s the true epitome of what the awards mean. Everybody who won was very deserving and very appreciative,” Jackson finished, applauding everyone on a successful year.
