According to voting guidelines provided by the Ellis County Elections Administration, to vote in-person, all registered voters are required to present one of the seven approved forms of photo identification. If unable to obtain one of the picture IDs, You can fill out a declaration at the polls explaining why and bring one of the supporting documents.

Acceptable forms of ID include a Texas driver's license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS, Texas personal identification card issued by DPS, Texas license to carry a handgun issued by DPS, United States military identification card that contains a photograph, United States citizenship certificate that contains a photograph or a United States passport.

If unable to obtain one of the above forms of identification, voters have the option to fill out a declaration at the polling location that explains why and can provide one of the following: valid voter registration certificate, certified birth certificate (must be original), copy of, or original, current utility bill, copy of, or original, bank statement, copy of, or original, government check, copy of, or original, paycheck, or copy of, or original, government document with your name and an address.

VoteTexas.Gov states, "with the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than four years before being presented for voter qualifications at the polling place."
