MIDLOTHIAN — An afternoon encounter with two home burglarers led to one Midlothian teen to be assaulted and sent police officers on a brief chase Sunday.

According to Midlothian Police Capt. John Spann, officers were dispatched at approximately 12:25 p.m. to a robbery in progress in the 4200 block of Farm-to-Market 1387 where a 14-year-old victim reported two males were stealing items after he returned home from fishing.

"The victim advised he was kicked in the stomach as the suspects left the location," Spann stated in a release. "The suspects fled in a black SUV. Midlothian officers located the suspect vehicle going north on Hwy. 287 heading towards Mansfield. Midlothian officers pursued the suspects who eventually stopped in the 4300 block of Garden Path. The suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Midlothian Jail."

As of Tuesday morning, Spann confirmed that both Keymon D. Talton, 29, and Donald Gene Wright, 31, remained in custody at the Midlothian Police Department on burglary of a habitation charges. He also noted both males have previous possession of a controlled substance charges pending with Midlothian PD.

"Both suspects had two prior Burglary convictions on their records," Spann added. "The victim did not require medical attention."
