BURLESON — The Midlothian Heritage cross country teams received seven individual medals and the Jaguar boys won a team championship in the recently completed Elk Run hosted by Burleson High School.

The meet, held Sept. 1 at Chisenhall Park in Burleson, saw seven Jaguars place in the top-20 of their respective divisions.

In the girls' 2-mile race (3,200 meters) Savanna Smith crossed in 17th place with a time of 13:34.86. The Jaguar girls found success again in the 3-mile race (5,000 meters) when Renee Elliott (19:38.70) and Rachel Allen (19:53.25) finished in 7th and 9th places, respectively.

For the Heritage boys, top-20 finishes by Ethen Agreda (2nd, 17:01.06), Kyle Penwarden (5th, 17:20.39), Tyler Walker (8th, 17:39.53) and Gunnar Ponivas (19th, 18:39.59) propelled the Jaguars to a team championship in the Boys 4A and below division.

Garrett Garvin (22nd, 18:45.38), Amir Derouen (22nd, 18:51.27), Malachi Klor (26th, 18:53.08) and Noah Wagnon (27th, 18:55.35) also had strong showings in Burleson.

The teams returned to action Thursday, Sept. 7 in the James Smith Invitational at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian. Results will be in next week's Mirror.
