With two recent hurricanes, folks are asking how can I help? There are many ways. Several agencies and groups are taking donations of goods. You can drop off your items and the group will see that the items get to where they are needed.
Given the significant amount of damage, this will be a long recovery process. As one that spent many years on the Texas Gulf Coast, believe me, it will be a long recovery. That being said, monetary donations are always helpful. With that comes the question, "how do I know that any money I send will actually go to hurricane relief?" A little research will show how much money an organization spends on the "effort," versus how much they devote to the organization itself. There are those that spend 80 to 90 percent on the organization, and 10 to 20 percent on the "effort," and there are those that are just the opposite. You just have to do a little research.
Regardless, any type of assistance will be appreciated by the people impacted. And,no, it is not too late.
