MANSFIELD — The Lady Panther volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a win Tuesday night over visiting Mansfield Timberview.
Behind 17 kills from Sydney Little and 11 more by Samantha Rodgers, (27-13, 10-4) Midlothian cruised to the sweep, 25-11, 25-17, 25-14.
Sophomore Skylor Lewis and junior Aliyah Muhammad each added seven kills in the win, and Little led the team with a pair of aces and 19 digs. Tara Groden added 10 digs and Kelby Buchanan finished with 11.
Despite the win, the Lady Panthers fell to the No. 4 seed in the district due to the tie-breaker policy adopted during the last district meeting. Thought Midlothian defeated the third-seeded Waxahachie Lady Indians in the first round of district play, it took five sets to do so. The Lady Indians took the rematch in three sets, giving them the tiebreaker.
Midlothian will play Burleson Centennial in the bi-district round of the playoffs on either Monday, Oct. 30 or Tuesday, Oct. 31. Time, date and location have not yet been set.
Centennial won the tiebreaker for the No. 1 see out of District 9-5A after finishing tied with Cleburne at 11-3. The Lady Spartans are 20-21 on the season.
