Dallas SWAT team members took Glenntrik Deon Jamaal Morgan into custody Wednesday morning after is alleged to have kidnapped his girlfriend the day before.
Members of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 9:22 p.m. to the Galaxy Drive-in located at 5301 N. Interstate Highway 45 in Ennis.
“Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies learned an adult female was assaulted and taken against her will by her ex-boyfriend,” Sheriff’s Office PIO Sgt. Joe Fitzgerald said. “Witnesses said the suspect forced the female into a vehicle and the suspect fled the location through a rear exit on the property. The suspect was identified as Glenntrik Deon Jamaal Morgan of Dallas.”
Fitzgerald stated deputies believed Morgan fled with the victim toward Dallas.
Criminal Investigators learned at 12:02 a.m. on Wednesday that the victim was dropped off by Morgan at her mother’s residence. They then met with the victim and learned that Morgan was believed to be driving a blue BMW sport-utility vehicle. The vehicle was found parked at the Walker Place Apartments located at 3880 S. Walton Blvd. in Dallas.
Fitzgerald noted that surveillance was set up, which confirmed Morgan was at the apartment complex in a lower apartment. They also learned that an 11-month-old infant was in the apartment with Morgan.
“Dallas Police was summoned and contact was attempted with Morgan. There was no response and the scene was treated as a barricaded subject. At approximately 10:46 a.m. Dallas SWAT took Morgan into custody,” Fitzgerald said. “Morgan was transported from Dallas to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Kidnapping.”
According to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center's website, Morgan was booked into the jail at 1:26 p.m. on Wednesday. He is being held on a $40,000 bond on the Kidnapping charge. Morgan also has two charges of driving a motor vehicle without a driver's license and a charge of disregarding a traffic control device from the Dallas Police Department.
