Enjoy a hot holiday meal when the Graham Street Church of Christ holds its annual free community Christmas dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.

“We will have plenty of food, but we’re also going to have our children from the Kindercare Program singing and Santa will make an appearance,” said event coordinator Le Jones. “We’ll also be giving out gift baskets. Everyone gets a ticket and if you’re ticket gets pulled then you get to take home a holiday meal. We traditionally have 10 to 12, but we may have quite a few more than that.”

The gift baskets are put together by the church’s “connecting groups.”

“We challenge them to put together one or two or whatever their group wants to do and we have about 12 groups,” Jones said. “Sometimes someone will hear about it and say they want to donate and that’s a really great feeling.”

The meal will include turkey and all the fixings, which will be cooked and prepared by church members and other volunteers.

“The food is wonderful and people from all walks come and help out,” Jones said. “We also have meals to-go and we go through the Meals on Wheels list so we do make deliveries and then some people want to take it home so we can do that too. I love the fast pace of cranking out all those meals.”

Everyone is welcome to attend.

“This is our Christmas gift to the community and there’s such a Christmas spirit when everyone gets together and that’s really nice,” Jones said.

Delivery and to-go orders need to be place before Wednesday morning by calling the church at 254-965-4510.
