Employees at the QuikTrip distribution center in Midlothian recently donated portions of their paychecks in a United Way employee-giving campaign to benefit United Way of West Ellis County.
Casey Ballard, Executive Director of United Way of West Ellis County, said, “Over the course of two to four weeks, employees were given the opportunity to pledge a gift to the United Way of West Ellis County either by making a direct contribution or pledging a particular dollar amount to be extracted from each paycheck for an entire year.”
The check for UWWEC will be delivered later this month, and QuikTrip is matching the contribution for the employee campaign. The total contribution will be over $60,000.
The employee campaign allows individuals to designate an amount from their paycheck each month.
“QuikTrip matches those employee donations, therefore, doubling the gift each employee chooses to make,” Ballard explained. “[...] The UWWEC awards more than $330,000 annually in grants to local non-profits, schools, and other community programs."
Members of UWWEC met with the generous employees Feb. 1 to take a photo together in front of an 18-wheeler to celebrate the contribution.
