The Southwestern Assemblies of God University football team added 13 new recruits as part of National Signing Day 2018.

The latest members of the Lion pride will look to improve on last season’s impressive 8-3 record.

Head football coach Frank Tristan is excited to welcome this group of incoming freshman.

He said, “This is our smallest recruiting class, but probably the most talented. Our staff worked tirelessly in getting good quality kids for both our football program and our university.”

The small recruiting class is a result of roster space, as the Lions are returning 93 players from the 2017 season.

It's a good problem to have according to Coach Tristan.

“With the retention we have, we are returning last year’s leaders and now adding a strong recruiting class only adds to our depth," Tristan said. “Our main focus was linemen, and Evan Greathouse, Sebastian Dimas, and Keandre Belcher highlight this class.

"Evan was the starting center for 6A powerhouse Katy High School in Katy, Texas. We also add state champion Jalen Haynes, who was a starting defensive back for Trinity Christian Cedar Hill High School.”
