MIDLOTHIAN

The community gave a hearty welcome to Midlothian’s newest business, 7-Eleven, as the gas-station chain opened its doors May 24. Applause greeted store employees as the ribbon was officially cut.

The Midlothian store is about 3,500 square feet and has six gas pumps that feature Mobil gas. The store offers a variety of products that include bakery items, sandwiches, and fruit, which are delivered fresh daily. It also has Midlothian ISD spirit items for sale.

Paula Young, marketing manager for 7-Eleven, stated she is happy to be a part of the Midlothian community and introduce the store to a new group of people.

“We are excited to be here and to serve the community. We are excited to make new friends and connect with old friends,” Young said. “We want to be a part of this community and you to be our neighbor in coming to see us every day.”

Before its opening, 7-Eleven team members visited the Heroes of Midlothian 5K, JR Irvin and Mountain Peak Elementary Schools, and Frank Seale Middle School to distribute more than 2,800 Slurpees.

Mayor Bill Houston shared Young’s excitement about the new store opening for business. He brought about laughter from the crowd as he recalled once buying a newspaper, cup of coffee, and donut for $1, and hoped the price might return.

“I am really excited for them being here and want to welcome them to town. Thank you for working with the city,” Houston said. “I know that our guidelines are pretty strict, but we need quality in the city. Thank you for being here.”

Houston added the design and look of the store adds to the city.

According to 7-Eleven’s website, it has 60,000 stores located globally.

Resident Jacob Wallace stated new businesses like 7-Eleven add to the strong business base of Midlothian.

“I think that it is another sign of the great growth we are having here in Midlothian,” Wallace said. “There are a number of top-notch companies that want to come down here, and we are happy to partner with them and bring them into the city.”

The store is open 24 hours a day and is located at 2430 Farm-to-Market Road in Midlothian.
