The Rev. Matt Curry, the pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Waxahachie, will preach a four-part series during July on sermon topics chosen by the congregation.
Curry asked Central’s members and friends to submit ideas over several weeks on any topic they would like to hear addressed from the pulpit.
“I could have called the series ‘From 8 to 80,’ because these topics cover questions raised by people representing all ages in the church,” Curry said. “I believe asking questions is part of having a vibrant faith life. These are all thoughtful suggestions, and I am looking forward to the challenge of providing a biblical response to each one of them.”
The series is called “You Asked For It!”
The schedule includes:
July 8 – Is it Biblical to Consider God our Mother?
July 15 – Why Did God Flood the Earth?
July 22 – Why Did Jesus Curse the Fig Tree?
July 29 – Creeds or Deeds?: Which are Essential for the Life of Faith?
Curry, a former newspaper and wire service journalist who holds a master’s in divinity from Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, has been pastor of historic Central Presbyterian Church since Aug. 20, 2012.
The church, located at 402 N. College St., worships at 11 a.m. on Sundays. All are welcome.
