MIDLOTHIAN A quorum of Midlothian ISD School Board trustees approved the extension of Silken Crossing on Frank Seale Middle School property at a special called meeting Monday, Sept. 23.

Board Trustee Duke Burge read the motion into record, which detailed the equal trade of property for the extension with the city's agreement to provide landscaping and connection south to Stadium Drive. The connection will allow easier entry and exit from the Multi-Purpose Stadium, especially at high traffic times before and after events at the stadium.

The Silken Crossing extension will primarily serve as access for the future skilled nursing facility, for which the Planning and Zoning Commission has approved the final plat. The extension will be funded by the city and 4A tax board (Midlothian Economic Development).

Board members Jim Mentzel, Keith Hitt, Burge, Dr. Wayne Shuffield and Todd Hemphill voted 5-0 to authorize Superintendent Dr. Jerome Stewart to sign any and all contracts for the extension.
