Festival of Trees at Waxahachie Bible

Habitat for Humanity is sponsoring their first Festival of Trees Friday evening and Saturday afternoon silent auction of several decorated Christmas trees and Christmas decorations. Donations and proceeds from the festival will fund the construction of a home for a local woman.

The silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 and will restart at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 to end at 3 p.m. The festival will also feature the Waxahachie High School Jazz Band and St. Joseph’s handbell choir on Friday evening.

Bake Sale for Backpacks

Bankers for Backpacks will host its annual bake sale from 7 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at two locations, Oma's Jiffy Burger (403 Water Street) and Cancun's Restaurant (1585 N. U.S. Highway 77) to raise funds to purchase backpacks for children in need.

Bulldog Dash 5k and one mile

Palmer ISD will host the Bulldog Dash 5k and one mile fun run/walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Palmer High School Football Stadium. Proceeds will benefit members of the Palmer ISD family battling cancer this year: Ella Michael, Patti Koym, and Tracy Johnson. Proceeds will also benefit the Cathy Wrzesinski Memorial Scholarship fund. Registration forms are available on the PISD website: www.palmer-isd.org, or can be picked up at any of the school offices.

8th Annual Central Texas Turkey Trot

Altrusa International of the Brazos and Altrusa Int. of Waco are proud to host the Central Texas Turkey Trot starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Redwood Shelter at Cameron Park in Waco. Packet pickup is at 7:30 a.m.

The event promises a morning of family fun with many door prizes and awards. There will be a $150 cash award for overall winners in male and female catergories. Seven different age brackets offers awards for top male and female competitors. First place winners will receive frozen turkeys, second place – deluxe pumpkin pies, third place – meal coupons.
