The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Jeremy K. Glenn as Superintendent of Schools for Waxahachie ISD.  After the required 21 day waiting period, trustees voted in favor of hiring Dr. Glenn in a called meeting on Monday, Dec. 16.

Glenn, who has served as superintendent since 2008 for Central Heights ISD (CHISD) near Nacogdoches, will assume the duties of the Waxahachie ISD superintendent on Jan. 6, 2014.  Glenn succeeds Thomas J. Collins who retired from the district after seven years as WISD superintendent.

“On behalf of the School Board I want to express our excitement about the hiring of Dr. Jeremy Glenn to head our district,” said Mark Price, Board of Trustees president.  “Dr. Glenn has the experience necessary to elevate our district to be among the best in the Metroplex.  The Board of Trustees fully supports Dr. Glenn because we believe he has the capability and expertise to lead our district.”

“I want to thank our community for its patience throughout the superintendent selection process as these types of decisions are not taken lightly by the board,” Price added. “I commend all of our board members for their thoughtful consideration and dedication as we selected our next superintendent. We look forward to the arrival of Dr. Glenn to the Waxahachie ISD family.”

Glenn brings 13 years of educational experience to Waxahachie ISD serving in the capacities of an English teacher and coach (Mineola ISD); high school principal and assistant superintendent (Trinity ISD); and, superintendent.

Glenn earned his bachelor of science degree in political science with a minor in English from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2000. In 2003, he received a master of education degree in educational administration from the University of Texas at Tyler. In 2008, he completed his doctoral work in educational leadership and earned a doctor of education degree from Sam Houston State University.

While serving as superintendent at CHISD, Glenn was responsible for setting the leadership course that enabled the district to receive a number of academic achievements and recognitions, including being named an Academically Recognized district by the Texas Education Agency for five straight years.

Under his leadership, CHISD also received the 2011 College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council for increasing the number of students taking the ACT assessment over the past five years while increasing their level of achievement. In 2009, Glenn helped to pass the district’s first construction bond since 1986 that funded the construction of a new high school facility, new middle school and various elementary renovations.

Glenn has published articles in the International Journal of Educational Leadership Preparation and he co-authored the book Daily Devotions for Superintendents. He serves as a guest lecturer and is a member of the Institutional Review Board and the Principal Advisory Board for Stephen F. Austin State University.

"I want to thank the members of the Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees for the time and hard work they put into conducting this search,” said Glenn. “I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the community of Waxahachie and its students. Waxahachie has a rich tradition of excellence. The current administration and staff have done an outstanding job of building a solid academic foundation. My goal is to work with the current leadership team and continue to build on that foundation. My family and I are excited about this opportunity and we look forward to joining the Waxahachie community."
