Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, George W. “Dub” Willis, Jr. passed away at the age of 87 on Nov. 7, 2016 at his home in Midlothian, Texas. Dub was born on Feb. 16, 1929 in Antelope, Coryell County, Texas to George W. Willis, Sr., a schoolteacher and Sylvia Mae Clem Willis, a homemaker. Dub graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Texas in 1956 and moved to Midlothian to become a pharmacist at Hilley’s Pharmacy. For many years, Dub was the town’s only practicing druggist. Through the years he was active in civic duties by serving as the President of the Midlothian School Board during construction of the Midlothian High School 1970-1971, as Treasurer of the First United Methodist Church in Midlothian during construction of the church and served on the Mountain Peak Water Board. As a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 40 years, he volunteered for the finance committee, as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and collection counter. After the passing of Hilley’s Pharmacy founder, A.G. Hilley, Dub became the active CEO of their operations with Pharmacies and shopping centers in the North Texas area. Dub managed in this capacity until this past year when they sold the final property. Dub moves forward to be with God after a lifetime of loving service. We were blessed to have experienced his boundless friendliness and energy to assist others. Dub is survived by his wife, Martha Willis, children, Michael Willis and Margaret Gallia Thomas, 4 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and siblings, Sybil Condor and Sandra Bassinger.
