Oct. 16, 1919 –
June 15, 2013
Jamie Pryor, 93, was born Oct. 16, 1919 on the family farm just west of Midlothian. She was the daughter of Neptune and Jennie McElroy Newton and the youngest child with four brothers, J.N., Clitus, Keith and Wilson and one sister, Venus.
Jamie’s beloved father passed away when she was 15. She graduated from Midlothian High School in 1937 and attended Trinity University in Waxahachie. She married Keith Stuart Pryor in 1939. For a few years Jamie and Keith had a café in downtown Midlothian called “Keith’s Kafe”. Jamie and Keith had four children. Keith passed away in 1978 after a lengthy illness.
Jamie’s oldest daughter, Elaine Stuart Pryor Powers, passed away in 1996 from cancer. This was very heartbreaking for Jamie. Jamie was very quiet, somewhat shy and very independent. It was important to Jamie to keep fit and healthy and her beauty expressed that. She loved taking care of her yard and houseplants. Everything she touched grew beautiful and large. She was a champ at “42” and loved playing with family and friends. Her family was most important to her. She lived a beautiful 93 years and will be missed so much by her family.
Survivors include her children: Delories Pryor Reeves, Greg Stuart Pryor and Marlene and Grantland Pryor and Peggy; grandchildren: Dwaine Powers and Annette, Greg Powers, Kayla LaRue, Tommy LaRue and Tonnie, Bradley Burleson and Celina, Erik Burleson, Christopher Pryor and Shawna, Julie Claridy and Chris
Carrie St. John, Kristina Long, James Stuart Pryor and Amber Carly Pryor; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Midlothian Cemetery with Brandon Brachtel officiating.
