Leroy Bray was born Aug. 4, 1920, and passed away on July 17, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born in Waxahachie on Monroe Street to George and Effie Bray.
Leroy retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the Air Force, where he served from 1942 to 1961. He went on to work for TXI in Midlothian and retired from there after working from 1962 to 1986.
Leroy loved baseball, particularly the Texas Rangers, and football and enjoyed being with his buddies who shared those interests. He was a steadfast provider for his family and always had quiet but humorous comment to share.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; sons, James Donald McGinnis and Gary Leroy Bray; daughter, Penny Tate; and sister, Marie Matthews.
Leroy is survived by his daughter, Vickie Chambers; grandchildren: Tim McGinnis, Tracie Flieg, Chuck McGinnis, Chad Bray, Aaron Bray, Jarred Bray, Holly Bray, Cheri Hanes, Suzy Losoya and K. Tate; and more than 20 great-grandchildren.
He lived in Midlothian his entire life, except during his military service, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, and services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Midlothian Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Ovilla, Texas.
