George Scarbrough was born on Aug. 8, 1932 in Temple, Okla., to George V. and Lona Scarbrough. He passed away on Oct. 22 in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elton Smith, and daughters Dona Williams and Gail Meyer. He grew up and attended school in Burkburnett, Texas.
George married the love of his life, Carol Durfey on Dec. 10, 1960. He was a member of the Midlothian Bible Church. George worked in Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning his entire career and retired in the spring of 1994.
He enjoyed an active retirement, hunting, fishing, helping others and playing cards with his buddies. George had an innate ability to analyze problems and fix almost anything. He is best remembered for his quick wit, epic storytelling, and the joy of entertaining others with his homemade gimmicks. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
George is survived by his wife, Carol, two sons, Dan Durfey and O.G. Scarbrough, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 and services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Midlothian Funeral Home located at 200 E. Avenue E with burial following at Midlothian Cemetery.
