BIG HIT: With the Alice Coyote already rolling in the third quarter against the Corpus Christi Miller Bucs Friday night, linebacker Manuel Garcia delivered the kind of hit that can change the momentum of the game. Miller quarterback Joshua Vasquez dropped back to pass and was looking downfield midway through the third when out of his blindside came Garcia with a full head of steam. He hit Vasquez hard, causing a fumble which was recovered by defensive end R.J. Rosales. The turnover led to an Alice score in the 34-3 victory.

BIG SCORE: The Freer Buckaroos scored 86 points Friday night in an 86-61 win against Three Rivers. To put that in perspective, in 2014, the season before current coach Rhett Bomar arrived in Freer, the Buckaroos scored a total of 112 points for the entire season.

BIG NIGHT: On a night in which the Coyotes were planning to use two quarterbacks, senior Andres Barrios had a big night. Barrios ended the game completing 11 of 19 passes for 211 yards. He had two rushing scores and threw two touchdown passes.

BIG WIN: The San Diego Vaqueros were in search of some offense and they found it Friday night. The Vaqueros were 1-4 in the non-district half of their schedule, but began district play by scoring 39 points in a 39-14 win against Santa Rosa.
