MIDLOTHIAN — The junior varsity Panthers won their third game in a row Tuesday night, beating Mansfield Legacy High School 54-51 at Koonce Gymnasium and claiming the first district victory of the season.

Midlothian's premier 5A sub-varsity boys' basketball team entered the matchup on a roll after a 10-point win over Killen Shoemaker High School at home and an 18-point win against Irving Nimitz High School on the road.

Against Mansfield Legacy, John McDonald's game-high 16 points and 13 points from Wesley Lowe helped lead Midlothian (5-2, 1-0) into the Christmas break and the holiday tournament with a win.

Connor Words (7 pts) and Chigozie Ndumele (6 pts) also chipped in scoring efforts during the win.

The Panthers will resume district play on Jan. 3 after competing in the three-day North Crowley Junior Varsity Tournament. They are scheduled to face Haltom High School at 4 p.m. Wednesday at NCHS Gymnasium.
