ENNIS — Five hundred feet above sea level, Ennis' iconic speedway at the Texas Motorplex will be the home to Sept. 15-16 National Hod Rod Association South Central Division Lucas Oil Division 4 Race, one of 45 scheduled across the country.

NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series drivers, which earn points leading to divisional and national championships, will compete on the Texas Motorplex's concrete, quarter-mile track for a chance at a share of the year-end purse totaling more than $519,000.

The categories, which are part of he AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals, include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street competitions. The division's SDPC Race Shop Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will also run at the event along with Sportsman Motorcycle.

Time trials and qualifying will take place at 8:30 a.m. Friday. A single time trial and qualifying run will be held 8:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by all rounds of eliminations in all classes.

Tickets at Texas Motorplex are $15 per day for adults. Prices for children between ages 6 and 15 are $10 per day. Children 5 years and younger are admitted free with a paid adult.
