Brownwood's four-match win streak snapped, 25-23, 25-23, 14-25, 22-25, 15-11

ABILENE — The Brownwood Lady Lions rallied from a two sets to none deficit to force a tiebreaker, but Class 5A Abilene Cooper emerged with a five-set non-district victory Friday afternoon.

The Lady Lions’ 25-23, 25-23, 14-25, 22-25, 15-11 loss snapped a four-game win streak as Brownwood has one match left — at Fredericksburg at 6 p.m. Tuesday — prior to the District 5-4A opener at Big Spring on Friday.

Brownwood (10-14) received 23 kills from both Mikaela Smith and Torrey Miller followed by seven from Aleyia Cotton, five from Ashlynn Patteson, three from Cheyenne Stroope and two from Tyra Cotton.

Davalynn Monroe served up 28 assists while Hadley Monroe dished out 22, followed by Patteson with two and Smith, Miller, Aleyia Cotton and Tyra Cotton with one apiece.

Miller notched seven aces while Davalynn Monroe added three.

On the defensive end, Miller tallied 23 digs trailed by 15 from Hadley Monroe, 11 each from Patteson, Aleyia Cotton and Davalynn Monroe, eight from Annie Gillispie, six from Smith, five from Tyra Cotton and four from Stroope.

At the net, Miller collected two blocks while Smith, Stroope, Aleyia Cotton and Tyra Cotton added one each.
