The Milford track and field team will be sending five athletes to the state track and field meet.
Jacobe Essary qualified for state in the triple jump and as part of the sprint relay team. The other relay team members are Jairus Russell, Logan Sprabary and Mike Owens. Jaquay Brown qualified for state competition in the 110M hurdles.
Other Regional competitors were: Genia Armstrong, fourth in discus; Kiki Cook, fifth in discus; Kyler Scherf, sixth in discus and Essary, sixth in long jump.
This year regional competition was April 26-27 in Bullard. The top two competitors in each event qualified for the state track.
Track participants competed well in the district, area and regional track meets this past month. Both boys and girls earned the title of district champions at the high school district track meet April 11 in Rice.
Milford was represented well at the district meet. There were 12 boys advancing out of district to area in 17 different events. The girls had 11 girls advance in 15 different events.
Those who advanced were: Armstrong, Stormy Bennett, Brown, Daren Cisneros, Russell Clingenpeel, Cook, Essary, Taylor Falzerano, Jacarvus Gates, Brittany Goss, Robbie Johnson, Keith Kayser, Jada McIntyre, Jamie McIntyre, Adrian Ojeda, Mike Owens, Gabby Rose, Russell, Brittany Scamahorn, Scherf, Sprabary, Rachel Strange, and Trestiny Williams.
