The Midlothian Lady Panther volleyball team locked up a playoff spot with a sweep last week.
Last Tuesday night, the team traveled to Grand Prairie to play the Gophers.
In set one, the Panthers fought to stay in the game and finally sealed the win 28-26.
In set two, the Panthers came out strong and never let up to win 25-7.
The Panthers continued their focus into set three and beat Grand Prairie 25-13.
Madison Savage led the offense with seven kills. CeCe Madison and Morgan Griffin each had six kills.
Ashton Rawlings had 18 assists and Keaton Shirk added a dozen.
Griffin had three blocks and Madison had two.
Bailey Fry had 17 digs and Tarin Mergener added 10. Mergener also had five aces.
The team finished the week by coming up just short in another five-set match against South Grand Prairie.
This was Midlothianís fifth, five-set match in district play.
The Panthers won a hard-fought first game 28-26, but fell behind in game two and lost 19-25.
They came back hard in game three and won 25-14. But the Lady Panthers couldnít finish the job losing the next two games 22-25, and 12-15.
Tarin Mergener led the offense with 13 kills and Griffin added nine.
Mergener also had 21 assists and Keaton Shirk had 19.†
Meagan Jones, Madison and Madison Savage each had three blocks.
Bailey Fry had 21 digs and Morgan Griffin added five aces.
The Lady Panthers are now 8-5 in district play. They hosted their last district match Tuesday versus Mansfield Timberview and the team honored its seniors afterward. The teamís seniors are: Shelby Walton, Molly McBride, Nina Lopez, Rawlings, Reagan Hydes, Jones, Grace Bell and Allie Deese.
