The Gryphons Motorcycle Club will host the 29th annual Ellis County Toy Run from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. Thousands of motorcyclists will parade through Midlothian, Waxahachie and Ennis to deliver new toys to Ellis County children in need this Christmas season.
The parade will line up at about 9 a.m. along 8th Street in downtown Midlothian and set off at 11 a.m. sharp. Donuts and coffee will be provided by Midlothian Donuts, Busy Bee Bakery and Caroline’s Cafe.
All bikers and citizens are invited to participate in or watch the motorcycle parade and join the party at Sokol Hall.
Entry to ride in the motorcycle parade costs $5 per person and the donation of one new toy for ages 3-13. Gryphons Motorcycle Club will also accept donations of canned food.
The parade will follow the same route as previous years, along Interstate 287 from Midlothian, through Waxahachie to Ennis and ending at Sokol Hall, 2622 E. Highway 34.
The parade will arrive at Sokol Hall around noon where children and families, invited by Health and Human Services Commission of Ellis County, will have to chance to meet Santa, receive Christmas presents and have a free meal of hot dogs, cookies and refreshments.
For those participating in the toy run, there will be door prizes, an auction, 50/50 drawing, food and refreshments, while supplies last. Saints Eleven will also be performing as live entertainment until 6 p.m. All of the monetary donations and proceeds collected from the toy run will be donated to the Midlothian Senior Citizens Center this year.
Every year the toy run benefit Ellis County children and rotates every two years, to benefit the senior citizen centers or programs in Waxahachie, Midlothian and Ennis. Last year the run gave more than $17,000 to the Waxahachie Senior Center.
The motorcycle club said the Ellis County Toy Run would not be a success each year if not for the help of local Ellis County citizens, the Midlothian, Waxahachie and Ennis Police Departments and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department, Gerdau Ameristeel, TXI, Bikers Against Child Abuse, Wolverine’s Motorcycle Club, Ellis County Santa’s Helpers and the Citizens National Bank of Texas and many others.
