The Midlothian Lady Panthers opened up their season and the Bryan College Station softball tournament with two wins last week.
In game one versus Pasadena Dobie, the Lady Panther offense took advantage of Dobie miscues to go ahead early 4-0. Later in the game, junior Carley Haizlip doubled to left center and later scored on a two-run bomb from senior Delaney Wayland.
Senior Emily Kuser picked up her first win of the season as the Lady Panthers beat Pasadena Dobie 6-1.
In game two, the Lady Panthers' defense and senior pitcher Emily Kuser flirted with perfection as they defeated Tomball 8-0 allowing one baserunner on a sharp single in the fifth inning.
Offensively, Haizlip smashed her first home run of the year with a solo shot.
Aggressive baserunning and clutch hitting, including a bases loaded double by freshman Georgia Capell opened up the game and the Lady Panthers never looked back.
Midlothian suffered its first loss of the season on day two of the tournament as it lost to Magnolia West 11-4.
Midlothian rebounded to beat Arlington Martin 6-4, but lost to Lake Travis 10-2. Midlothian then beat Kingwood 8-7 to finish the tournament.
