MIDLOTHIAN –The Midlothian Independent School District Athletics Hall of Honor’s Board of Directors opened the organization’s annual nomination period for the MISD Athletics Hall of Honor on Wednesday.
Nominations for the third annual event will be accepted through May 1.
“We have a tremendous slate of qualified nominees for consideration,” said Danny Rodgers, the MISD Athletics Hall of Honor nominations chairperson. “Though there continue to be worthy candidates, each must receive a nomination in order to be considered. We encourage everyone to submit his or her nomination. Do not assume someone has already made that nomination, we want to consider all who have made significant contributions to our athletic Community.”
All athletes that graduated from MISD, individuals who played an important role in supporting the athletic programs through coaching or other significant community support and teams with exemplary accomplishments will be eligible.
Athletes must have graduated prior to 2011 and coaches and community supporters are judged on exemplary efforts.
Two community supporters, Jack Cavender and Johnny Coleman, were inducted into the Hall of Honor in 2014 and 2015.
All nominations made in 2014 and 2015 are in the nominations system for consideration for the 2016 Midlothian Athletics Hall of Honor by the Induction/Nomination Committee. The third annual induction ceremonies are slated for Oct. 22 at the Midlothian Heritage High School.
