County Commissioner Kyle Butler and Midlothian Mayor Bill Houston joined in celebrating the 14th Annual March for Meals by delivering meals Wednesday in honor of Community Champions Week.

Across the country this week, Meals on Wheels programs have enlisted elected officials, local celebrities and other prominent figures to deliver meals, speak out for seniors and raise awareness for the power of Meals on Wheels.

Butler and Houston joined with volunteers throughout Johnson and Ellis Counties in delivering a nutritious meal, friendly visit and safety check that enable senior residents to lead nourished lives of independence and dignity in their own homes, where they want to be.

March for Meals is a national campaign, initiated by Meals On Wheels America, which seeks to raise awareness of the impact of meal programs across the country and encourage action on the part of local communities.
