Waxahachie resident Johnnie Sanders Radney passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Midlothian. He was born on Dec. 2, 1925 in Kerens, Texas, to the late John Henry and Dora Velma Howell Radney. After high school, Johnnie served in the U.S. Army during WWII, he was in the 101st Airborne Unit and served in the Central Europe and Rhineland, where he received three Bronze Stars and also served on the Honor Guard at Nuremberg Trials in Germany. After his service in the military Johnnie worked for Lone Star Cement from 1950-1960 and worked for TXI from 1960 to his retirement in 1989 as the Assistant Plant Manager. Johnnie married Ruby Lee Blackburn Radney on Feb. 16, 1946, they were married for 70 years. He was a longtime member of The Avenue Church. He loved to hunt, fish and work in the garden. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lee Radney of Waxahachie; son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Jody Radney; daughter and son-in-Law: Sandra and Rick Blythe; frandchildren: Luke and Shannon Radney, Chance and Nicole Blythe; Great Grandchildren: Nash Rodney Blythe; Brother: Jairl and Barbara Radney;
sister: Charlene and Henry Owens and numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at The Avenue Church in Waxahachie, Texas with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
