WAXAHACHIE — The Zombies take over for another year Friday, Sept. 30 as Screams opens for its 2016 season and unveils its newest haunted attraction, the Zombie Wasteland.

The 21st year of Screams Halloween Theme Park, presented by MetroPCS, promises thrills, chills and guaranteed moments of terror. Screams is Haunted Houses and a whole lot more with three Haunted Houses, the CarnEvil Clown Maze and the all new Zombie Wasteland.

The Zombie Wasteland is an entirely new level of fear. Do you dare tempt fate? Will you come out alive? The undead await. Only time will tell as you take the perilous journey into the terrifying twists and turns of the all new Zombie Wasteland.

In addition to the wasteland, there is also live entertainment on the Screams stage, Scary-Oke, games of skill, shops, a food court, a full-service restaurant and pubs (for those over 21) to deliver a whole night of Halloween fun.

In celebration of the season, the bars will feature seasonal favorites like Crackberry Blackberry Cider, Night Owl Pumpkin Ale, Redhook Pumpkin Porter, Deep Ellum Praline Porter, Spaten Oktoberfest and Fanconia Oktoberfest among many other favorites.

“Screams offers the very best Halloween experience anywhere in North Texas and our 2016 season will be no exception”, said Coy Sevier, Screams General Manager. “Our new attraction, ‘Zombie Wasteland’ is outstanding and will provide a whole new realm of fear for our visitors, plus every one of our three haunted houses and the CarnEvil Clown Maze have been upgraded to make this year’s haunts even more spectacular.”

The haunted houses, CarnEvil Clown Maze and Zombie Wasteland are all included in the single admission price along with live entertainment and Scary-Oke. Visitors may go through the haunted houses and haunted attractions as many times as they like, as the crowds will allow. For those patrons who wish to avoid the wait, there is also an opportunity to purchase a "Fast Pass" in advance or at the event during their visit.

Screams vendors and shops will feature wares like jewelry, medicine bags, temporary tattoos, glo products, feather extensions, Henna and Glitter Tattoos and Wax Hands. There is also a mask and souvenir shop, Tarot Cards, Psychic & Palm Readings and much more.

The entertainment line-up for Screams 2016 will include Screams radio partners bringing their brand of entertainment to the stage. Events currently planned include The Edge 102.1’s “Smell This” event on Saturday, Oct, 1, Hot 93.3’s “Glow Party and Dark Maze Challenge” on Saturday, Oct. 15, and KVIL’s Live Broadcast on Saturday, Oct. 8 and “Screaming Good Time” event on Saturday, Oct. 22.
