Melvin Floyd, of Ovilla, Texas, our beloved husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and brother-in-law went home to his heavenly father on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. He was our kind, loving, gentle giant who fought a hard battle until the very end. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

Melvin was born in Dallas, Texas to Robert and Ruth Floyd. He was married to Lou Ann Tune Floyd and father to Emily Perry and Sara Rhodes. His grandchildren called him "PawPaw." He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Floyd, children; Emily Perry and husband, Chad Perry; and Sara Rhodes and husband, Randy Rhodes, grandchildren; Stephanie, Alex, Chase, and Lydia, siblings; Larry Floyd and wife, Wanda, Doris Pogue, Duane Floyd and Lisa Floyd, as well as a host of nephews, nieces and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Shelby Floyd.

Melvin was a lifelong resident of Ovilla, Texas. He loved God, Family, and his Country. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing, boating, and building bonfires at the Rocky Falls. One of his favorite pastimes was to roll the dice at any Craps table in Vegas.

Melvin was a strong and gentleman, a generous man, and a craftsman. He could do just about anything from rebuilding a Mack truck motor to remodeling their home to building fences. He was a business partner with his father and brothers in Floyd Trucking and Floyd Fencing.

Wit was his forte - he could make anyone laugh at his "one-liners" or jokes. He could find the bright side or bring humor to any situation. Anytime you would see Melvin, he would be wearing a smile.

Melvin will be missed greatly by all who loved and knew him. May he rest in peace in the arms of God!
