HALTOM CITY — The Midlothian Panthers wrestling team opened its season with a 67-6 thumping of Haltom City last week.

In addition to the varsity boys' win, the junior varsity won its match 47-12 and the Lady Panthers won two of their three matches. All matches were held Thursday, Nov. 16 at Haltom City High School.

Led by head coach Kevin Reed, the varsity team benefitted from pins all night.

The Panthers picked right back up where they left off last season when Midlothian climbed to No. 19 in the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association 5A polls.

WrestlingTexas.com has senior Allen Roppolo currently ranked sixth in the 120-pound class (up from 15th) and sophomore Jackson Carter checks in at No. 16 (previously unranked) in the 138-pound class.

The varsity boys followed the Thursday showing with a third-place finish in the Tom Roman Invitational hosted by Arlington High School. The Panthers placed behind 6A juggernaut Euless Trinity and 5A power Grapevine — both by slim margins. The tournament was held Saturday, Nov. 18.
