The Bulldogs held tough early on Friday night against visiting Midlothian Heritage but the Jaguar bats were simply too hot to contain.

Heritage scored 20 runs on 19 hits to pick up a fourth District 8-4A win in as many tries by handing Venus a 20-4 loss.

The victory combined with a 7-0 road win against Glen Rose last Tuesday garnered the Jaguars the 4A Team of the Week honors. Heritage also checks in at No. 15 in the 4A poll and No. 11 in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll.

The Jaguars used three pitchers to complete the five-inning win.

Trey Bostic (5-0, 0.87 ERA) took the ball on the bump to start the game for the Jaguars and exited after two innings and in a 3-3 ballgame. He struck out three, walked two and allowed three runs (all unearned) on three hits.

Despite the short outing and leaving in a tied game, Bostic was credited with his fifth win of the season after the Jaguars plated six runs in the top of the third inning for a 9-3 lead.

Creed Spenrath tossed the third and fourth innings in relief. All six outs Spenrath recorded came via the strikeout. He also allowed one hit and issued one walk.

Travis Belz allowed one unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning before striking out the Bulldog side.

Cody Moore led the Jaguars in the hit department with his 4-for-5 showing with one double, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Calsen Clower (3-5) drove in a team-high four runs and Cole Jones (2-4, 3 RBI, 2 R) laced the lone Heritage triple.

Other run producers included Nathan Gaskamp (2), Cade Sumbler (2), Bostic (2), Kaden Jones and Jackson Morris.

Midlothian Heritage is now 12-3 on the season and 4-0 in District 8-4A.

Due to recent rains, the Jaguars return to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Alvarado.
