The Southwestern Assemblies of God University volleyball team is off to a blistering 7-1 start to the season and has now done something no other Lady Lions team has in years past.

SAGU volleyball is nationally ranked — checking in at No. 27 — in this week's NAIA poll after the best start to a season since 2008.

The Lady Lions received 95 votes.

"Our kids are working extremely hard and are playing at a high level," said head coach Hank Moore. "We are very excited that SAGU volleyball is now being mentioned in this group of teams.”

SAGU currently sits at a perfect 4-0 in conference play and in first-place ahead of also unbeaten Wayland Baptist University (3-0) Oklahoma City University (2-0). The Lady Lions will see both teams over the next 10 days.

As a team, SAGU currently sits 6th with 13.07 assists per set, 11th in with 13.76 kills per game, and 17th with 18.52 digs per match.
