Five matches into the District 14-5A volleyball schedule has resulted in just two dropped sets and a perfect record for the Midlothian Lady Panthers.
The Lady Panthers, under first-year head coach Shain Sackett, are now 21-9 on the season after a pair of sweeps against Corsicana and Ennis.
Next up? A showdown with nearby-rival (21-5, 5-0) Red Oak in a battle of 14-5A unbeatens at 5:30 p.m. in Red Oak.
The Lady Hawks and Lady Panthers are currently two games clear of third-place (18-13, 3-2) Joshua and three games ahead of (16-10, 2-3) Cleburne and (22-10, 2-3) Corsicana.
In the wins Friday against Ennis and then Tuesday against Corsicana, Samantha Rodgers led the way with 37 kills, which included 24 kills on 36 attempts (.583-hitting percentage) against the Lady Tigers.
Aryn Walton and Kaylie Vasil finished the two matches with 10 kills, while Skylor Lewis and Camryn Hill both had nine.
Walton also recorded 63 assists in the victories, including 40 assists with only one error against Corsicana. She also added 11 digs in that match, second only to Kelby Buchanan who had 28 digs against the Lady Tigers and 39 over the stretch.
