The Toy Drive will continue at the Citizens National Bank Uptown parking lot from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. on Dec. 8. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy or cash donation for the CASA annual Toy Drive for children in foster care. CASA of Ellis County provides gifts to approximately 100 children who have been removed from their homes by CPS and also provides holiday baskets to relatives who have temporary custody of children in CPS care.
Since 2004, CASA of Ellis County is appointed by Judge Jim Chapman to be an extra set of eyes and ears for children who have been removed from their homes by CPS. CASA recruits, trains and supervises about 70 community volunteer advocates who speak up for children in foster care by advocating for a child’s educational, psychological, physical, emotional, and developmental needs or services.
CASA advocates do not have to have a legal or social work background, just a heart for helping kids in need. To find out more about becoming a CASA advocate, visit www.casaofelliscounty.org.
