Following a week away from District 14-5A action, the Midlothian Panthers returned to the slate Tuesday at home against Joshua.

And, with runners on the corners and one out, the Panthers had an opportunity to pick up their first district victory of the season.

Joshua starter Matt Haley then recorded a strikeout looking as he reached the UIL-mandated pitch limit. Brek Golbreayn came on in relief and followed Haley's lead, striking out the final Panther of the evening to end the hopes of a comeback.

Joshua escaped Midlothian, barely, with a 4-3 win in the final game played at Panthers current home.

The next time the Midlothian ballclub takes the home turf will be at the newly constructed Ronnie Clanton Field across the street from the high school at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12 against Ennis.

The Panthers will travel to Joshua on Friday and Ennis on Tuesday for a pair of 7 p.m. first pitches before then.

As for Tuesday's loss, Caden Hawkins was nails on the bump for the Panthers. He tossed a complete-game with nine strikeouts and scattered nine hits. Two of the four runs Hawkins allowed were earned.

Nathan Humphreys, Anthony Ferrante, Ryan McCaskill, Jackson Quinn, Josh Tankersley and Chris Tomlinson all singed for the Panthers. Midlothian did not record an extra-base hit.

The Panthers are now 13-8 on the season and 0-3 in District 14-5A.
