Future holiday events are the top topics on the agenda of the Midlothian City Council’s semi-monthly regular meeting on Tuesday night at City Hall, 104 West Avenue E.
On the consent agenda are consideration of approval for special use permits for the following:
• The Midlothian Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Arts and Wine Festival on Saturday, Nov. 9;
• the city’s Christmas Tree lighting ceremony on Monday, Dec. 2;
• the Southern Star Christmas Celebration hosted by the Midlothian Downtown Business Association, Manna House, the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce and the City of Midlothian, scheduled on Saturday, Dec. 7;
• Merry Movie Night, an event hosted by the city Parks and Recreation Department, scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13.
Also on the consent agenda are the approval of the Waxahachie Daily Light and Midlothian Mirror as official newspapers of the city for Fiscal Year 2019-2020; approval of a temporary concrete batch plant for Azalea Hollow for the purpose of completing of paving roads, with limitations; and approving investment policies for the city of Midlothian and subordinate bodies.
Also on the agenda are a couple of zoning changes involving a single tract. The council will consider changing from Rural Module to Country Module an approximately 67-acre tract east of McAlpin Road, between FM 875 and Mission Court. Related to that, the council will consider changing the same tract from Agricultural to a planned development district for residential uses.
Finally, the council will consider purchase of a vacuum truck for an amount of about $430,000; and will consider nominations for the 2020-2021 Ellis County Appraisal District board of directors.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers.
