CORSICANA — Heritage High School’s Division I front-line combination of Hanna Larson and Kelsey Carpenter combined for 26 kills and also served three aces apiece as the Jaguars swept Robinson, 25-15, 25-17, 25-14, on Tuesday night in the bi-district round of the Class 4A Region III volleyball playoff bracket at Corsicana High School.

Heritage (25-18-1) moves on to the area round and will take on Rusk on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Mabank High School. Rusk swept Monday night’s match against Jasper.

Larson, who has committed to Texas A&M, led the way with 14 kills and also had four blocks; while Carpenter, who has verbaled to Texas-San Antonio, added 12 kills and 15 assists for the Jags.

Juliana Pologruto had a team-high 18 assists, Liz Haralson added nine kills and Kaylee Ruenbar had 13 digs for HHS. All three are seniors.

The HHS-Rusk winner will move on to face the Lorena-Madisonville winner early next week in the Region III quarterfinals.

5A Region II

Midlothian d. Poteet 3-0

FERRIS — Midlothian swept Mesquite Poteet 25-22, 25-14, 25-18 on Monday night.

No stats were available for MHS as of press time. Poteet finishes the year at 24-20 after beating Kaufman in a tiebreaker match last Friday.

The Panthers (24-17) will take on Greenville in an area-round pairing on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Forney High School. Greenville (28-14) beat Longview Pine Tree in their playoff match in Mineola on Monday night.
