BENBROOK — The Heritage High School girls basketball team got back on the winning track on Tuesday night, taking a 54-45 victory over Benbrook.
Danielle Wallace scored 14 points and Jerzie Bryant 13 for the Jags (7-5), while Kylar Kenter and Elizabeth Schmidt netted seven points apiece and Elise Stafford six.
Following an open date this weekend, HHS will travel to Kennedale for a non-district game next Tuesday night at 8 p.m. before hosting the girls’ version of the Heritage Hoopfest. The tournament begins next Thursday and continues through Saturday at Heritage High School.
Boys host tourney
With the football team going deep in the playoffs, the Heritage High School boys basketball team has gotten off to a sporadic start to its schedule. That will finally change this weekend.
The Jaguars (2-1) will host Corsicana on Thursday morning to tip off the Heritage Hoopfest at HHS at 10:40 a.m., then will play Fort Worth Arlington Heights at 4 p.m. later on Thursday. On Friday, the Jags will face Kaufman at 8 a.m. and Grapevine at 1:20 p.m., with one more game slated for Saturday at a time to be determined.
Following the tournament, the Jags will host Mansfield Legacy in a non-district game at 6:30 p.m.
The Jags debuted with a 72-57 win against Kennedale on Nov. 16, but suffered a 78-58 home loss to Frisco Independence on Nov. 23 before bouncing back with a 76-49 rout at Glen Rose on Nov. 25.
