The Midlothian Panthers kept up their winning ways this past week with a pair of non-district victories against Mesquite High and Burleson Centennial.

On Friday, the Class 5A No. 19-ranked Panthers (10-5) rode the hot hands of Omari Bobbitt and Nyk Madison and came away with a 57-44 come-from-behind win over the host Skeeters.

Bobbitt led the way for MHS with 22 points, followed closely by Madison with 20 as the Panthers ended the game on an 18-3 run. Corbin Green finished with seven points, Jackson Tollefsbol with five and Luke Reynolds with three.

After leading by three at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers were outscored 21-12 in the second and trailed 32-26 at halftime. However, MHS was able to right themselves and clawed back to within 41-39 to start the final period.

Diandrae Heath led Mesquite with 14 points.

Against Centennial at home on Tuesday night, the Panthers also trailed early before catching fire in the second half, taking a 54-47 win.

The Panthers fell behind 30-23 at halftime, but outscored Centennial 11-3 in the third period to nose ahead and held on for the victory.

Madison led the way this time with 18 points, followed by Reynolds with 13, Bobbitt with eight, Tollefsbol with seven, Green with five and Corbin Carpenter with three.

Jacob Stuckey scored 15 and Zach Bolf 14 for Centennial.

The Panthers will travel to Mansfield Legacy on Friday night in their final game before the Christmas break. They will compete in the Kaufman Holiday Tournament starting next Thursday.
