Midlothian Mayor Richard Reno announces he will be seeking reelection in May 2020.
Mayor Reno said, "Since taking office, we have built upon the ongoing work of our elected leaders and city staff, bringing to completion such exciting additions as the Google Data Center and working to complete others like the Methodist Hospital and our 14th Street Community Park. My hope is that we can continue to offer further career opportunities while preserving the Midlothian quality of life we all treasure."
Mayor Reno is the founder and President of Omega Software, headquartered in downtown Midlothian, which provides maintenance logistics software and support to airlines around the world. Along with his wife Tammy and daughter Sarah, he also owns and operates Woodrow's Coffee Shop.
Prior to his entry into business, Mayor Reno served with distinction in the United States Marines as a Naval Flight Officer. Reno filed for election in early 2019, to fill the term of retired Mayor Bill Houston. He came within 12 votes of winning a three-way race outright and won the subsequent runoff with a landslide 70 percent of the over 1,500 votes cast.
"Again, I would like to thank the voters for their support,” Reno said. “I have been blessed and humbled by their encouragement and trust in me. In the next months, I will be reaching out to share our vision and strategic plans."
The elections will take place on May 2, 2020. Early voting will be April 20-24, 27, 28, 2020.
