CEDAR HILL — The Midlothian Lady Panthers broke a 31-all tie at the end of the third quarter with a 17-3 run on Tuesday night, taking control of the game and knocking off Mesquite Poteet, 48-34, in the bi-district round of the Class 5A Region II girls’ basketball playoffs.

The Lady Panthers got out to a quick 21-6 lead but Poteet battled back with a 16-4 second-quarter run of their own, pulling back to within 25-22 at intermission.

The Lady Panthers (22-13) will face Royse City in an area-round matchup on Friday night at Kaufman High School.
